After having that dream house built, most people forget that there are other parts of the property that need some help and that is the garden or outside yard space. Simi Valley landscaping are well versed in all aspects of designing and creating all outdoor areas including the pool area. By conferencing with Simi Valley landscapers, the problem of what to plant and where will it be taken care of because they are experts in the field – no pun intended!
Even if a move is imminent into a new dwelling place, the garden area may not be what the home-owners desire. In this case, it is better to call in the professionals to take on what could be a difficult job.
The first task to be undertaken is the design and designated play areas for the family. Is there enough room for a pool, or do the children need a play area constructed, are just some of the main points. Pathways leading through and around these fixed structures have to be planned very carefully so that utilities and other services are not compromised.
One thing to take into account is the color scheme for the whole overall effect to ‘pop’ and please the eye. Many people will have favorite plants or trees but the professional will know what plants and trees will compliment each other and details that the homeowner may not be aware of. How big will the plant or tree grow; is it slow or fast growing; will it need water every day; will it deprive other plants of nutrients and water etc. These are just a few ideas for the initial questions to be asked.
Also of concern will the consistency of the soil type, plant adaptability and color schemes. Perhaps the homeowner would like winter color more than summery flowers. This will have to be taken into account to get the best out of the space available.
Irrigation is another aspect the contactor to take into consideration especially if the home is in an arid or semi arid area. Plants will not survive if they don’t get the water that they need and who wants to be thinking about all that work all the time? This would only work if the space was like a ‘postage stamp’. Pipes and taps are situated around the garden so that the homeowner can decide when and where to water. Plants rarely need water all day and night so timers can be installed to water at the best times. This is usually during the evening or night so that the plants can have a chance to soak up the water before the sun comes up and evaporates any excess moisture.
Whenever there is a new garden, it is obvious that the professionals are the best people to design and build a beautiful landscape for the homeowner. One more plus for using professionals is that the property value is likely to increase because of a professionally designed outside space.
How the garden is designed. Many people will make up their minds to buy a property solely on how the whole property ’sits’ in the garden. What better reason to get the superb services of a very professional team!

City landscapes bring wilderness to the man made world. Gardens introduce nature to the asphalt jungle. Boston landscape design has often incorporated exotic species and lovely plants from other lands. Looking at a natural Boston landscape it becomes apparent that all the native plants are abundant, beautiful and easily grown. There is a growing push to promote native species over other plants. Invasive species are intruding on many habitats and soon Walden Pond could be home to many species that Thoreau would never have laid eyes on. Aggressive non-natives, such as Giant Cow Parsnip, not only take over habitat, but also present health hazards to animals and humans with their toxicity. Non-native plants often start out as garden ornamentals before they jump the wall and get established in the wild. Even many non-invasive non-native plants are stress on habitat, demanding more water or richer soil then the habitat naturally provides. That is why across the country many organizations are educating about and encouraging the use of native plants to fill a garden, or landscape a yard.
New England has a variety of beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers that can delight any gardener. Investing the time to research and design a garden with plants compatible to the area offers many rewards. Native plants offer a major payback in that they don’t require as much care. A bit of attention is all that is needed for these plants. They are part of the natural eco-system. Birds, other mammals, insects and trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers often interact with each other for food or shelter and reproductive requirements. An aggressive non-native plant can upset the balance stressing a habitat or species. So what are some of the plants that a New England garden or yard would best host?
There are numerous trees that give New England its colorful falls. The Sugar Maple (Acer Saccharum) is an attractive tree that grows to be about 60 to 75 feet tall. It has broad leaves that turn brilliant shades in the fall. It gives birds sanctuary and provides ample shade. These maples are popular for making furniture and are also the source of Maple syrup. It prefers moist bottom land and wooded slopes. The Silver Maple is another native tree. It grows to be between 75 to 100 feet tall. Its foliage has a silver sheen on the bottom. The silver maple is a quick growing tree with a somewhat less pleasing shape then the Sugar Maple. Other native species include White Ash, Grey Birch, Sweet Gum, Red Pine, White Oak, Scarlet Oak and Bur Oak to name just a few.
Flowering plants are bountiful. Miterwort, Twin Berry, mountain laurel, cardinal flower, and sundial lupine are all attractive components to the garden. Scarlet Bee Balm is related to mint and creates beautiful red flowers. The flowers are very attractive to humming birds and draw them into the garden.
Pages and pages could be written about the varieties of flowers, trees and shrubs available for a North Eastern garden. This list is not even the tip of the iceberg. Take some time, explore the possibilities and see the vast selection of native plants that could be used in a New England Garden.

Great landscaping and stunning gardens can turn a yard into a wonderland. Often people look at species from all over the world to find beautiful and exotic plants for their yard. This has created some stunning gardens and some giant headaches. A lot of plants from elsewhere escape from domestic gardens and go rouge. There are some plants that have invaded the North East of the United States. Boston landscaping and MA landscaping in general have avoided several troublesome species. One of the most worrisome plants is Giant Hogweed.
Giant Hogweed, (Herculeum Mantegazzianum) has been reported in Massachusetts and other parts of the country. It is a nasty invasive species that quickly dominates habitats and crowds out native plants. It looks like Cow Parsnip (Herculeum Maximum) on steroids. While Cow Parsnip is a large decent sized plant averaging 4-5 feet in height with the ability to grow to 8 feet, the Giant Hogweed is, well, giant. It can grow between 10 and 15 feet tall with huge flowering heads measuring 2 and a half feet across. Its leaves can spread up to five feet across. With its large flowering head and giant stalk it turns people into Lilliputians . At least that’s what it feels like standing under one.
Giant Hogweed comes from the Caucasus Region and Central Asia. It has become a dominant plant in parts of Britain and has been introduced to the Northeast and Northwest regions of the United States. Aside from its aggressive growth and habitat invasion, the Giant Hogweed is also a toxic plant harmful to animals and humans. The sap of the Giant Hogweed is clear and watery. It is also a phototoxic weed. It won’t destroy your camera if you take a picture of it, but it might be brutal to your epidermis. Phototoxicity is when a chemical interacts with light, mainly the ultra violet rays. It can cause severe itching, blistering and even scaring that can last for several years. If the liquid from the plant enters the eye, it can cause blindness. The plant has a chemical, derivatives of furocumarin, whichwork there way into epithelial cells, attach to the DNA and cause the cells to die. This is much like a chemical burn and turns the skin deep brown. Because it is both invasive and toxic, it has been placed on the list of Federal Noxious Weeds and is slated for eradication wherever it is found.
Since Common Cow Parsnip and Giant Hogweed, (also referred to as Giant Cow Parsnip) look alike, it is worth understanding the differences. The first noticeable difference is the size. But both are tuberous perennials. Every winter the above ground part of the plant dies until spring finds new shoots breaking ground. Since Giant Hogweed doesn’t start out 15 feet tall it’s important to note some of the differences. The distinctive marks of Giant Hogweed is purple spots on the stem, which is hollow and can grow from 2 to 4 inches in diameter. Cow Parsnip has no spots and the hollow stem rarely gets bigger the 2 inches. Giant Parsnip has short hairs underneath its leaves while Cow Parsnip has an abundance of long hairs.
If you come across a stand of Giant Hogweed, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the appropriate local agency or the Department of Natural Resources. Giant Hogweed should be treated like poison oak and poison ivy, washing with soap and water and avoiding contact when possible.

Simi Valley landscaping companies have a texturally rich soil and mild climate in which to work on outdoor projects. Simi Valley landscapers can utilize the mild temperatures and the dry yet fertile terrain to create breathtaking designs and relaxing respites for residents in the area. Design companies can offer creative solutions for just about any outdoor space someone would like to make more useable or enjoyable. Interestingly, there is the common notion that horticultural designers simply plant flowers or trees, mow lawns, and move around dirt and mulch. This is most definitely not the case. In addition to such basic duties, a great design firm has the added ability to create a virtual oasis in your backyard. Typically, the only thing limiting their creativity is the short sided homeowner who is not open to, or who doesn’t understand all the options a design group can provide. The following are some of the most popular outdoor features, besides the basic horticulture design that a company can create, install, or supply for a client:
Outdoor lighting concepts are a great addition: Enhancing the existing horticulture, lighting can provide illumination for design focal points and bring clarity to the overall design. Lighting can center prime features into focus and can be a visual necessity for enjoying designs at dusk or well into the evening. Lighted pathways provide a polished appearance for projects and can also provide an added safety feature for residents and visitors of a home.
Fire-pits are a fun addition: For the individual or family who loves to spend evenings outdoors, consider the addition of a fire-pit or outdoor fireplace. Nights can get downright chilly, even in mild climates but a cozy fire-pit or fireplace can provide just the right amount of warmth and atmosphere to make sitting out beneath the stars an enjoyable experience.
Patios are extremely functional: A stone or concrete patio provides a wonderful space for a table and chairs. It can be an enjoyable place to have breakfast or spend a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine. Design specialists can do much more than create the drab concrete slab of old. Todays patios can take on many interesting shapes and textures.
Arbors or Trellises are a vertical framework for nature : Arbors and trellises can provide height and depth interest to an otherwise bland area. They create peaceful, lovely transitions from one area to another.
Gazebos enhance any atmosphere: In addition to a patio, or in place of a patio, a gazebo can be a wonderful relaxing place to rest and enjoy nature. Unlike patios, gazebos can provide a durable sun cover for those looking for an escape from the rays.
Fountains exhilarate the senses: The relaxing melody of running water creates a beautiful centerpiece to any horticultural design. Visually appealing and artistically pleasing, fountains are a great choice for a plethora of design schemes.
Pools have been and will continue to be a timeless feature for many homes: Some design companies even specialize in creating pools and spa areas. Whether redesigning an old, existing pool space or creating a brand new pool design, many companies will exceed your expectations with their extensive architectural plans.

Putting in landscape lighting can be a expensive enterprise. Besides purchasing the equipment youmay also have to pay an electrician to install them for you. Solar landscape lights are acheap alternative to electric landscape lights. Not only are they interesting also they are environmentally friendly, easy to install, and cheap. They’ll also save your money on your electrical bills down the line. Some of the early kinds of solar landscape lighting weren’t very bright or loyal.
New technology in LED lights permits you to have blinding lights which don’t require much power to operate. This gives you areliable and intense light to use in your solar powered lighting. There have also been advances in solar technology which makes them an excellent choice these days. Some of many advancements include sophisticated circuitry, improved batteries, and affordable photovoltaic cells. The solar landscape lighting which is available today can provide you with enough light throughout the year including during the longer nights of winter.
To get the best lights for your needs you want to figure out how they will be used. Path, task, and accent are the 3 main methods to use your landscape lights. Accent landscape lighting is used to provide mild illumination to your landscape. They’re not designed to highlight a particular item but rather emit a low level of light to make a mood. These kinds of solar lights generally will include extremely efficient cells which allow them to charge even when they are in partial shade.
You can light up your walkways, paths, and drives using trail lights. Regularly there is will be several of them leading down the length of the path. Sometimes the light points downward to help you see the trail. Task lights are the brightest of the 3 and are used to draw attention to special plants or elements within your yard. They usually can be mounted in a few alternative ways and changed so that the light focuses on a specific object.

No house is complete without its landscaping. And landscaping is a major undertaking. Sure, you can do it yourself, but if you want the best possible job, it’s better to hire a professional landscaping firm. If you want Michigan Landscaping Ann Arbor will provide you with a good place to go. An Ann Arbor Landscaping firm will work hardto provide you with plants that will thrive in your Michigan yard.
A house with landscaping is like a person in their birthday suit. Where the house meets the ground looks bleak and unfinished if there are no bushes to soften the look. As rain falls, dirt is splashed up from the ground onto the bottom portion of the house, giving it a soiled appearance. So you want to give the house the equivalent of a dressy skirt by planting beautiful bushes and flowers.
A good reason for hiring a landscaping firm is that they have extensive knowledge of plants and which varieties thrive in the geographical area. This ensures that the plants will thrive all seasons of the year and also that they will not require a lot of extra work and coddling. They are also familiar with the growing properties of the plants, such as how high they grow, how wide they spread, and how they fit together to make a harmonious display. A landscape designer can plan out the full plan for you, and if you decide not to do a full planting of all of the suggestions, you can hang on to the plan and add new plants each year until the full plan is realized.
Knowing the growing properties is important for size reasons. A plant that looks good when it is first planted but grows to a large size in front of a ranch house will look like a child in her mommy’s dress-up skirt. It will look swallowed up by the vegetation. Proportional shrubbery gives the house a dignified look.
Another thought to consider is what is hidden or revealed by the landscaping. Tree placement comes into consideration here. If you have a bedroom window on the front of the house, you may want to plant a tree that grows as tall as the height of this window. When the window is shaded by a tree’s glorious crown, the room’s inhabitant can worry a somewhat less about being observed through the window. The placement of trees can also make the heating and cooling of the house more efficient all year long. You may want to plant deciduous trees on the side of the house that receives sunlight during the winter so that, when the leaves fall in autumn, the sun can warm that side of the house. Conversely, you want to plant evergreens on the side of the house where the summer sun shines.
As you can see, the number of considerations involved in landscaping a home means that it is worth your while to engage the services of a landscape designer to help you to dress your house in its green, leafy garb. A good selection of plants will ensure many years of beauty with a minimum of yearly gardening work and need to replace ailing or out-dated plants.

Bloomfield Hills landscaping is known to be elegant and stylish. Another suburb that calls for elegance in Landscaping Birmingham MI is another Detroit suburb. Landscaping is inherently green, but let’s get a bit subversive and make the green even “greener” by slipping in plants that are useful as well as beautiful.
To start with, the most useless and polluting use of land is the suburban lawn. Especially in stylish suburbs, lawns must be kept perfect. The perfect lawn need chemicals. You need to spread weed killer to keep out the dandelions, crab grass, and other unwanted plants we call “weeds.” It also requires pesticides to kill off things like ants and their anthills. Digging moles create trails of tunnels through the front yard. What will your neighbors say? The problem with these chemicals is that they also affect the children and pets who want to play on the lawn. Then, when the rain falls, these chemicals are washed off the lawn and flow down the street or the ditch until they reach the nearest creek. From the creek, they flow into the nearest river. All of these streams of poisoned water add up to measurable pollution.
How do we solve this problem? It may not be possible to totally eliminate lawn area, but it is possible to reduce it significantly. Start by enlarging the beds around the perimeter of the house where the shrubberygrows. Plant trees in the center of the yard, and put a bed of flowers around the base of the tree. If you add a layout of paths through the yard, you can also put planting beds along them.
Let’s get even more subversive. Where can you plant edible plants without making your luxurious home look like a farm house? A good good starting place is a planting of cabbages in front of the shrubbery in the front yard. Cabbage plants are very esthetic. The leafy green head is nestled within large ruffled leaves that unfurl from the head as it matures. Then, when they are ripe, you can harvest them to make coleslaw, sauerkraut, stuffed cabbage, soups, and many other healthy meals. Between the cabbages, you may want to plant the carrots that complement the cabbage so well in the coleslaw. Carrot leaves are as lacy as a fern and just as beautiful.
IBehind the house, the landscaping makes your back garden an inviting spot. Just as shrubbery dresses the front of the house, it also dresses the edges of the back yard, particularly if a fence surrounds the perimeter. Thus, instead of setting up a rectangular garden plot that provides minimal beauty, plant your vegetables in garden beds laid out like flower beds. You may also want fruit trees that can give your family a steady source of snacks. Another source of healthy fruit is raspberry bushes and strawberry plants among the flowers.
These tactics will keep your home and its yard beautiful while making intelligent use of the land and enhancing the nutrition of your family.

A majority of homeowners want to make the most of their home whether it is the interior or the exterior . Many people are realizing how nice it is to enjoy the outside of your home as well whether it is relaxing on the front porch swing of an older home or sunbathing by a pool in the backyard. This article will detail the issue that some homeowners have and that is what to do with a backyard that is on a hill and how to make the most of that space withSimi Valley Landscapers and Simi Valley landscaping.
Many people that have a home with a slope in the back usually just keep it that way and never get to use that ptential area . There is no reason why you can’t do a lot of different things with a sloped yard with the great engineering of qualified landscapers that are out there today. The first step, obviously would be to research a variety of landscaping companies that have done several projects on properties that are similar to yours and take a close look at their work. You should also check into references from some of their former customers since there may be a few problems with hilly ground such as sliding issues .
Once you have found a great company to work with they will give you all of the different options that you can do with your property. Many homeowners don’t think that they can put a pool in a backyard that is not completely flat. With a great deal of dirt and a lot of retaining walls, a pool may be placed on a hillside property and be a fabulous way to use that yard . This has been shown to be done frequently in California where many of the home lots are small and are up on a slope or cliff.
Another great landscape design that may be used for a hilly yard could be a tiered patio or garden system. Using a variety of different tiers may be added for beautiful flower garden beds or even a small playground for your kids or a fabulous patio and dining area. Breaking up the hill into various sections using tiers may be a wonderful way to enjoy your backyard and not have to even out the whole part of it but instead work with the existing hill . If you own pets this would be a great way to designate a special area for them so they do not ruin the rest of the property and can have their own area as their own to stay in or to go to the bathroom .
With the wonderful engineering that can be done using natural in addition to engineered products, making tiers or retaining walls is more simple and better than in the past . You no longer have to purchase a plot of land that is completely flat to put in a pool, sport court or a beautiful patio complete with an outdoor kitchen.

In the past it was not unusual to see teenagers all working outside doing yard work or being a NKY grass cutter in their community to make some extra spending cash . These days it is not as common to see that because so many kids are over scheduled with sports and activities as well as their parents handing them everything that they want and not making them earn it. With the new bad economy , parents of teenagers are seeing this as a problem and trying to instill better work habits with their kids . This article will describe some of the great options for your preteen or teenage kids to do around their neighborhoods from NKY landscaping to babysitting.
One of the favorite jobs for teenagers and preteens is to babysit for neighbors kids when they go out. Today, Red Cross offers babysitting courses for future sitters 11 and older to take to become a certified babysitter. This could make the babysitter and the parents who hire them feel better about choosing them too . This is one of the best paying jobs out there and fun to do as well if you enjoy playing with younger kids and are not afraid to be in charge of them. A really good job would be to be a steady babysitter in the summer where you take of one family’s children during the day while the parents are working .
Another good job for young adults to get in their neighborhoods would be mowing lawns and yard work. If you walk around your neighborhood and hand out flyers of what you charge for a lawn mowed and other yard work like weeding, trimming bushes and raking up debris , you will probably get some great business. You could also mention to the people that you do yard work for that you can shovel their driveways and sidewalks too during the winter when it snows if you live in a frigid state . You may want to startwish to begin your own business of yard work with one other friend so you can do more yards in less time.
If you are an avid swimmer and have participated in swimming on swim teams for years, you may wish to get certified to be a junior lifeguard or a lifeguard at your community pool for the summer. You can be just 14 years old to be a Jr . lifeguard and 15 or 16 to be a traditional lifeguard. This would be a great choice for that teenager that love spending time at the pool and is not intimidated by the important job that it entails . What is better than being outside during the summer and getting paid for it?
Many people travel during the summer and during other holidays and school breaks and often need someone to take care of their pets and their house . This also , is the perfect job for a teenager . They can have the responsibility of taking the pet on walks, feeding and playing with it as well as bringing in the homeowners mail and watering flowers .

Simi Valley landscaping can no longer be just considered a DIY or a weekend job anymore. It has become a more complex task and the scope of the contemporary lawn has changed a lot over the past years. The job of Simi Valley landscapers does not just involve planting a tree in your front yard. Lawn maintenance now includes more aspects, for example: the color composition of the flower bed, lights along the proposed walkway, fencing and overall makeover. The work in our yard is not just a regular chore; it has now turned into a science and an art. Asked those who have tried a DIY makeover of their yard and chances are that most of them will admit that they would have been better off getting the hired services of the experts. Most lawn projects seems at first to be simple. After a few attempts at what seems like simple tasks, most homeowners realize it’s too much. There are just a lot of things to consider in the lawn development project. Among the things that you have to decide, the first item that you must do is to carefully assess your needs and wants from the lawn improvement project that you are undertaking. These questions are the first step in evaluating your project: 1. What are your goals and expectations? 2. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your yard? 3. What are the upsides and downsides of your design ideas?
Your evaluation and preparation is not complete even if you are able to find answers to all these questions. The complications are about to start, but so is the excitement. This is when you begin making little decisions, for example if you are going to include a buddleia shrub or a boxwood shrub. Further, if you are going to add rhododendron shrub; avoid planting on limey soil and that you will have to add humus so that you won’t be having problems with winter burn later. These are just a few of the concerns you will face. This can already be very stressful so you might want to consider getting the services of a competent and experienced lawn development specialist. A lawn development specialist does not only perform the job better, he can also save a lot of time as he will not be spending too much time thinking and deciding how to go about improving your lawn. By his sheer experience, he will most likely find the best template to create the best makeover for your lawn in no time. Another upside in hiring a professional is that you are able to have the opportunity to see how the finished project will look like from the rendered sketch of the overall plan or from images of the project using 3D software. Your ability to see and visualize the future look of your yard is one great opportunity for you to assess, review, change or accept the proposals of your lawn development specialist.
